A Quick Guide to Planning a Family Reunion

April 20, 2021 by Club Venetian

There are several reasons people have family reunions; to reconnect, celebrate an event, commemorate heritage, or just for fun. Often, families are separated by distance, and day-to-day responsibilities, which makes it difficult to keep in touch on a regular basis. This past year proved to be even more challenging for families to get together, making family reunions even sweeter.

Reestablish Communication

You will need to consult with your family first to iron out any details about special requests, and preferences concerning dates or location. This will also give you an idea of how many people will be attending.

Set a Date

Plans should start being made if possible at least six months prior to the date, especially if you have family out of town. This will allow for travel arrangements, to take time off work for adults, and for school-aged children to attend as well. The duration of the event will also need to be taken into consideration.

Make a Budget

This is a crucial step in the process and can mean the difference between success or failure. Once you have an idea of how much you are working with, you can budget for the venue, catering, decorations, games, rentals, etc. Use of a spreadsheet can ease this process.

Choose a Location

Take your budget into account and the distance the venue is from your family. Club Venetian is experienced in family reunion events, and our staff is here to help.

Planning a family reunion can be simple if the correct actions are taken into consideration. Communication is key. Set a date to make sure travel arrangements and other accommodations can be made. Make a budget and stick to it. Finally, choose a banquet hall. You are on your way to a reunion that will be remembered for a lifetime. If you are ready to start planning and want to tour Club Venetian or find out more about our catering, contact us for an appointment.

Summertime Fun at a Family Reunion

August 16, 2016 by Club Venetian

Club Venetian Family Reunion

With summer in full swing, now is the perfect time to host a family reunion to bring your extended family together. The staff at Club Venetian have created this article as a reference to any family looking to host the perfect family reunion this summer. Below we have listed some fun activities you ought to try!

  1. Family Photoshoot

Looking to make memories that last a lifetime? Try organizing a family photoshoot to capture some fun moments during your event!

  1. Hula Hoop Competition

Is your family competitive? Perhaps a Hula Hoop competition is in order. Create a simple bracket of all (willing) family members to compete against each other, with the best hula-hooper last standing! This is a great way to get people moving and bring some energy to the party.

  1. Awards

This is the perfect activity for making personal gifts for family members. Towards the end of your family reunion, create custom awards specific to your family members, a great way to show family members you care. Some examples of awards we have seen include: Best Hugger, Top Chef, and Most Musical.

  1. Who Am I?

Since some family reunions bring together families which have not met for a long time, playing “Who Am I?” can be a wonderful ice breaker activity. To play, write down each family member’s name on individual cards, then stick them to each other’s foreheads. Try guessing who you are!

Interested in hosting at Club Venetian or having us cater your family reunion? Please visit our website or give us a call at (248) 399-6788. We look forward to speaking with you and learning about your event.

Catering and Venue for Family Reunions

July 8, 2015 by Club Venetian

Family Reunion

If you are organizing a reunion for your family and are not sure where to start, Club Venetian has you covered here. Bringing together family from all over the state, country or world can be a big task especially if it is a large family, so it is important to know that you do not have to do it all by yourself. Hiring outside help to come in and help host your event is a great idea because then you are able to enjoy your family as well and will not have to miss out on the important moments.

Many family reunions are a series of events since there are many people coming in from out of town. If it is a large group of people, you will probably want to plan one big event and a few smaller side events. The big event can be held in Club Venetian’s banquet center where there will be room, great food and exceptional service for everyone, and it will feel more special.

For the smaller events, you may want to hold them in a nearby park or even at your home. Catering services are available anywhere you want to be, and we can provide anything from a fancy multi-course dinner to finger food and appetizers. The important part is to not have to worry about cooking massive amounts of food multiple times while family is in town. You have much better things to do!
