Sweet 16 Birthday Celebrations

April 25, 2012 by Club Venetian

When you turn 16 as a female in the United States or elsewhere in the world, you can enjoy what is called a Sweet 16. This type of party can be formal, semi-formal, or casual depending on the family. Sometimes the sweet 16 celebrations are modest parties which consist of close friends and family while other times the sweet 16 birthday celebrations are large parties with hair stylists, make-up artists, hotel ballrooms, and hired DJ’s and photographers.

Many of the more fashionable and large affairs are even televised. There are a few traditions associated with Sweet 16 birthday celebrations. For many families and young adults, the sweet 16 is a special event. If your sweet 16 birthday celebrations feature a candle-lighting ceremony, then on the birthday cake there are often sixteen candles, each of which has a different meaning. The first candle in this instance is meant for the parents. The second is meant for any siblings, but if there are none then it represents the grandparents. The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth candle are indicative of the remaining family members. The seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth are for friends. The fifteenth candle is for the best friend and the last candle, the sixteenth, is meant for a boyfriend or significant other. Some traditions place a seventeenth candle for good luck.

One of the other sweet 16 birthday celebrations is the show ceremony. This is when the birthday girl sits in a chair and her father, godfather, grandfather, or uncle approaches her holding a pair of heels on a decorative, celebratory pillow. Until this point, the girl traditionally wore slippers or other flat shoes and as her father ceremoniously places her feet in high heels it is a symbol of her transition into womanhood.

Another of the sweet 16 birthday celebrations is the tiara ceremony. For women this is much the same as show ceremony only, in lieu of the father and a pair of high heels, the mother approaches the daughter with a tiara which is placed upon her head as a symbol of her becoming a woman. There are times when the tiara ceremony is combined with the shoe ceremony and the girl sits in the same chair while both people approach her with two different pillows.

One other tradition in sweet 16 birthday celebrations is the father-daughter dance. The same as that which is performed at a wedding, this dance is often to a traditional song or slow jazz song and it the first song played during the night. Those in attendance sit and watch as the girl dances with her father.

Some families like to hire a professional DJ and videographer to display a montage on several televisions or on a projector throughout the night. The photos or video clips are often a combination of those taken over the years as the birthday girl grew up until present. Sometimes the photos are provided by the family to the DJ or videography. Guests can sit and enjoy the montage or it can be playing in the background during the party.

Outside Catering Services to Your Home or Office

April 23, 2012 by Club Venetian

When you need outside catering services to your home or office, you can hire a professional catering company. These companies provide food services to remote sites like your home, office, or other public location.

If you use mobile catering services at your home you can serve ice cream directly from a mobile cart for an outdoor party at your home. Event catering offers a wide range of services. You can hire event caterers to serve box lunches or full service catering. The staff works as part of the With outside catering services to your home or office you can hire someone who serves food to your food service industry so you can rest assured that they will adhere to federal regulations in terms of cleanliness and health. guests either in a buffet style line or as part of a waiting staff on dining tables. Food can be prepared on site, made before the start of the event, or the caterer can bring the food already prepared and put final touches on the items upon arrival.

In these instances, the event catering staff for the outside catering services to your home or office is not responsible for preparing the food but just for setting up the area. The caterer prepares the food. The catering staff for the outside catering services to your home or office can work private parties, conventions, banquets, or ceremonies and can even serve as little as hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

When you invest in catering services, the rates are often a flat price per person. If you decide upon full-service formal catering it would include rental arrival times, staff arrival times, bar open times, meal serve times, bar close times, rental pickup times, and out-of-venue times. There are many factors affecting the price of the services you hire including the general menu. If you have religious or specific dietary needs it might increase the cost. If you are serving hors d’oeuvres then the price will be affected by whether they are passed or stationary. If they are passed, then each tray is passed three to four times per hour. Your price is also affected by the meal rentals inclusive of a dance floor, tables, chairs, plants, serving equipment, salt and pepper shakers, bar glassware, flatware, china, linens, etc… Your cost might vary dependent upon whether the table and chair set up is part of the services you require. Many companies do not automatically include this service in their charges.

Sometimes your cost will vary based upon the rentals, food, and services you require. If your home event requires special food for dietary or religious purposes it may alter the price. If you need the catering company to set up the tables and chairs or serving stations, that will also increase the price. If you are serving hors d’oeuvres then you should verify whether or not you want them stationary or you want the catering staff to pass the items around. This will also affect the price.

Business Meeting and Seminars

April 22, 2012 by Club Venetian

When you are having a business meeting and seminars, especially longer ones, it is important that you consider the right location and catering services. It is customary to provide some sort of food and beverages, adherent to the theme, time, and length of the business meeting and seminars.

For instance, if you are planning a seminar which will take place over the course of the weekend, you might provide coffee and breakfast food an hour before the start of the event, with packed lunches distributed at a break, and make dinner the responsibility of those in attendance. If you are holding an early morning business meeting you can serve complimentary breakfast and drinks. If perhaps you have a group of contractors meeting during the afternoon, a nice lunch spread or cheese and meat spread can be a good reflection upon your company.

With mobile catering services, the food is served directly from a cart or a vehicle designed for food service. These are common for workplaces or outdoor events. You can have a mobile caterer attend your office with an omelet cart and serve each member in attendance with a custom made omelet.

If your business meeting or seminars have a theme you can hire a catering company to prepare food in an attractive manner which is reflective upon your theme. They can prepare food, decorations, and table settings to match the lighting and theme of the business event. The use of professional caterers at business events is becoming an ever increasingly popular idea because it satisfies every one of the client’s senses. The atmosphere and food can all help to make the event memorable. Food remains the focal point as the sight, taste, and smell can complement the ambiance of the room.

When you hire boxed lunch catering it often includes a sandwich, chips, some fruit, and dessert. The boxed lunches are often prepared and dropped by the caterer at a specific time. They are generally served for business meetings and corporate seminars when there is no time to break for an extended lunch but those in attendance do need to ear. These boxed lunches can be ordered just a few days before they are needed and are much less expensive than full catering services. Most catering companies do not offer any clean up or wait staff for this, only a drop off service. In fact, many popular delis and chain restaurants offer such services. They might include setting up the individual boxes on a table to make them more accessible. Some of the sandwich varieties include turkey, roast beef, ham, egg, tuna salad, chicken, chicken salad, or vegetarian.

No matter what, your price will be affected by the type of menu, required staff, and rentals. Your price will also be affected by the labor. Labor for a plated dinner will cost you more than for a buffet because the china required is double and there is a need for additional staff. Some service charges may also exist for fire permits, valet, coat check, lighting, liquor permits, and draping.

Wedding Receptions

April 21, 2012 by Club Venetian

Wedding receptions can quickly become overwhelming when you are trying to plan for your big day. From the centerpieces to the site location it takes a lot of imagination and organization to plan a wedding reception you won’t forget.

There are many vendors with whom you need to collaborate when planning wedding receptions. It can be very useful to create a plan before you begin searching which lists potential sites, ceremonies, dates, times, guests, styles, themes, and your budget. You should remember while you plan that your budget is the most important part and you should only invite as many guests as you can afford. Make sure that you revise your plan as your planning process continues and new things come up. By first securing the site where you plan to have the wedding reception you can begin booking other vendors based on the confirmed date. Many choice locations are booked one to two years ahead of time with prime weekend and evening dates booked ahead as well. This is especially true for May through October. As such, when you find your wedding reception location, be sure to book it immediately.

The next item for consideration is the budget and guest list.
